Details

Cefn Lea will provide some of the meals, but our church community will be providing the meals for Friday evening and Saturday noon.

There are several children’s groups for ages four to twelve years old on Saturday. As usual, we expect those who attend the Bible Conference to be involved in all the worship sessions, if at all possible, including children.

Rod & Staff and other publications will be offered for sale on Friday and Saturday, by Shepherd Hills Christian Books.

Our cost is £85 for standard chalets and £102 for ensuite, per adult, for the weekend. Children under age 14 are 25-100% less, according to age. We try to cover the costs by taking up a freewill offering during the conference, thereby helping one another. Please do not stay at home just because you cannot afford the full amount.

Duvets and pillows are provided. Sheets, pillow cases and towels can be hired from reception, or you may bring your own.

We hope you are able to join us. Please register as soon as possible. It helps us with our planning. God bless!

Musings

Western culture idolizes the individual and the right of choice. This culture has create a sacrosanct right to choose from a dizzying array of options. From colour of hair to gender, anyone has the right to be the person they choose to be. What are the fruits of this? Sadly, it affects the church too. The beauty of being a grain of wheat in a loaf of bread is far too radical for the individualistic mindset.

Why does scripture focus on family – the family of God? Scripture clearly calls every individual to choose the Lord. But why does the narrative of scripture follow the people of God, the church? Do we find the expectations of individualism in scripture?

The context of Eastern culture provided quite a different seedbed for the people of God than Western culture does. Why did God bring the church to birth in Eastern culture? Is it possible that God intended for His children to be accountable to a community and for much of the burden of choice to lie with the community rather than with the individual?

We are burdened with these observations and questions for this year’s conference. Individualism is robbing too many Christians of rich blessings in their Christian walk. Christendom today robs God of labourors in His Kingdom. It is robbing a sin-sick world of the testimony of brotherhoods who love the Lord Jesus and love one another.

Is it possible to change the culture we live in? Is it possible to birth New Testament churches in Western culture? What is the cost? What are the rewards?

Join us this year as we endeavour to find answers in God’s Word for these challenges. We want to be shaped by the counsels of our God!
